Face masks have been a fairly recent addition to my skincare routine. In the past, I never really understood the hype and hence, didn’t see a need to incorporate it into my skincare regime. After all, I’ve cleansed, toned, and moisturized— that should be enough to keep my skin healthy right? Wrong. This whole perception changed when I realised that face masks were the perfect solution whenever my skin needed some extra TLC.
With that said, I’m always excited to try new brands and am constantly on the hunt for interesting masks that work well for my skin. This brings me to my recent find: the Jayjun Cosmetics Baby Pure Shining Mask. This is a mask that is designed to be an all-in-one skincare routine, encompassing of three steps: the Blooming Essence, the Intensive Shining mask, and the Hydro Eye Cream.
What drew me to this mask, simply put, was its adorable packaging. Designed with the 2016 Pantone colours of the year— Rose Quartz and Serenity, the package invoked a sense of peace and wellness. Upon further research about the brand, I also learnt that the company was founded by plastic surgeons and dermatologists; needless to say, I had high hopes for this mask.
Some notable ingredients include:
- Niacinamide and Adenosine for their brightening effects
- Hyaluronic acid, Beta-glucan, Trehalose and Allantoin for their moisturising properties
- Tromethamine, to act as a pH adjustor
This product also consists of the silicon-based moisturiser, Dimethicone. Despite its effectiveness, this ingredient may aggravate acne prone skin. Hence, if you have sensitive skin, it would be wise to test the product on a small area before use.
Now on to the actual application of the product!
After cleansing, I squeezed out the Blooming Essence from its sachet, which was generously filled with a viscous liquid that easily covered my whole face. From its appearance, I was worried that the essence was going to be sticky and heavy on my skin, but to my surprise, it absorbed really quickly. Hence, hardly any waiting was needed before I was able to continue to step two: applying the actual mask.

For those of you about to use this product, be warned: this step is a bit of a mess, simply because the mask is literally dripping with essence. It is also made from a highly adhesive cupro fabric, which makes it a little bit difficult to unfold.
Upon applying it, my skin immediately felt refreshed. This is especially because I had been out in the sun prior to using the mask, and the product really helped to soothe my skin and restore its moisture!
After 20 minutes, I removed the mask and applied the Jayjun Hydro Eye Cream. Despite the product only being meant for your eye area, the sachet was packed to the brim with enough product for me to cover my entire face.
Nevertheless, the shea butter contained in the eye cream does make the product a little heavy. Thus, I wouldn’t recommend using this mask in the morning, especially if you’re planning on having a full face of makeup on. Instead, this is the perfect mask to use before you head to bed as the product can slowly be absorbed throughout the night.
Although the product is slightly fragranced, I thought that it wasn’t overwhelming and was rather calming— perfect for winding down at the end of a busy day. I also loved how radiant it made my face look the next morning— all the redness and blotchiness that I normally wake up with, gone! In a market oversaturated with face masks, I have to say that the Jayjun Baby Pure Shining Mask has definitely won me over!
